The first break will find couples number 1 and 2, facing and couples number 3 and 4 facing after the right and left thru and right and left back. The inside four (# 1 gent. # 2 lady. # 3 gent. # 4 lady) turn 1/4 (gents left-face turn, ladies right-face turn) to middle of square and everyone is then facing their original corner for left allemande. In the second break, couples 1 and 2 and couples 3 and 4 will be facing in diagonal lines. Take the lady you are facing by the hand and turn 1/4 (this time head couples will individually make left-face turn, sides a right-face turn) to face new middle of square in position for double pass thru. Head gents, now have new lady on right, side gents a new lady on left (don't change sides). Do a double pass thru and turn again to face the girl whose hand you held before the double pass thru. Now you will be facing again-in diagonal lines with your original partner on the right of you. Do a crosstrail thru to original corner for left allemande . The other break with this figure is directional and similar to the above except that when the ladies roll away, be sure you are all facing across to the same person before you take the opposites hand. On the next break, the head ladies will dixie chain (ladies touching right hands like a right and left grand, meeting gents with left hands, and then gents meeting with right hand (l’s following on through) and both will turn left and go round to stand behind the side couples (a gent behind a gent and a lady behind a lady). Do a double pass thru and all end facing out. The outside couples roll back into the middle and face original partner to box the gnat (the couples that have now moved to the outside will remain facing out). After the box the gnat, inside couplet turn 1/4 to face the middle again, and roll back around the outside couple once more. Everyone should be facing original corner for a left allemande. In the next two breaks, the figures are similar wherein you have a circle of eight with 2 gents, 2 ladies, 2 gents, 2 ladies circling. Together (as a pair), the gents or ladies will go in the designated direction to the end facing original corner.
