Danish Folk Dance

Formation: Double circle, partners facing, boy's back to center.

SONG

Meas. (3 counts per meas.; i.e.; 1-4 = 12 counts)

1- 4 Go from me, go from me, get out of my sight;

5- 8 Come to me, come to me, let's dance so light;

9-16 Together and right, together and left, Together and both, and clap…2, 3;

17-24 Tra, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la; Tra, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la;

25-28 Together and both, and clap…2, 3.

DANCE

1- 4 Partners back away from each other, motioning with hands to "go away."

5- 8 Both move diagonally to the right toward a new partner in the other circle, beckoning with hands "come to me."

9-16 Clap own hands, clap right hands with (new) partner; Clap own hands, clap left hands with partner; Clap own hands, clap both hands with partner; Clap own hands three times in the rhythm: clap…clap, clap.

17-24 With inside hands joined do a running waltz around the circle, or just run with small steps;

25-28 Face partner and: Clap own hands, clap both hands with partner, Clap own hands three times – clap…clap, clap.
