Tag: The routine is danced through 4 times. At the end of the 4th
time:
1-4 APART, TOUCH; TOGETHER, TOUCH; TWIRL THE
LADY, 2; BOW, 2
*HULA STYLING. The charm of this simple little dance lies in
hamming it up with an imitation of "island" styling. Only the lady
should try the hula steps, as her skirt conceals the mechanics. There
is no initial hip motion in this step; the effect is produced by a
slight bending of the knee as the weight is changed from side to
side; for instance, in meas 18, the lady steps to the R on R, then
steps on L quickly, bending the R knee slightly; then straightens R
knee as she takes weight on R, and bends L knee in slightly on the
"touch." This automatically twitches the hip and gives a full skirt a
pretty little switch.
Both partners can "ham up" the dance throughout, but it must be
kept light.
