Formation: 3 or 4 couples line up (this will be a set). Partners face each other. You can have several sets.

8 OH, A-HUNTING WE WILL GO, A-HUNTING WE WILL GO;

8 WE'LL CATCH A FOX AND PUT HIM IN A BOX,

AND THEN WE'LL LET HIM GO;

16 TRA, LA, LA, LA, LA, LA; etc.

TEACHING THE DANCE

8 The first couple in each set joins both hands and gallops down the center between the 2 lines;

8 The first couple gallops back to place;

16 All face forward. With the first couple leading, all march up to the top of the set, turn outside their own lines, and march to the foot of the set. The top couple joins hands at the foot of the set to make an arch. Then the second couple leads the rest of the dancers under the arch and slide back to their lines. The original first couple stays at the foot. Now the dance begins again with the second couple at the lead couple.

Repeat until all have had a turn as head couple.

NOTE: The timing can vary with the needs of the dancers.
